In a suspected case of murder, a Chegutu taxi driver’s body has been found with deep stab wounds, while his shattered vehicle, a Honda Fit, was discovered about 200 metres away from the body.
Police in Chegutu have launched an investigation into the gruesome murder, which occurred at an open space in the Kaguvi area of Pfupajena Township.
The body of Alec Sinoia (42) of DRC, Chegutu, was found with several injuries, while the Honda Fit he used as a taxi in Chegutu CBD had all tyres deflated and windows shattered.
Mashonaland West Police spokesperson, Inspector Ian Kohwera confirmed the incident.
“Police attended the scene and observed that the body had a wound on the left thigh, two deep wounds on the left leg, one stab wound on the left buttock, a deep cut on the right lower limb, and a cut on top of the left ear,” said Inspector Kohwera.
“His vehicle, a Honda Fit, registration number AEP 5524, was found 181 metres from his body and was badly damaged, with all windows smashed.”
The front windscreen had a hole, suggesting a point of impact that spread across the screen.
There were struggle marks and bloodstains about 90 metres away from the vehicle, while some of the victim’s clothes were scattered on the ground.
The body was taken to Chegutu District Hospital for a post-mortem.
Police have appealed to anyone with information that can assist investigations to approach the nearest police station.
