VETERAN educationist Dr Sikhanyiso Ndlovu has urged elders to educate youths on the importance of pan Africanism and the African struggle for self determination.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Africa Day celebrations organised by Zanu-PF Bulawayo province youth league at White City Stadium yesterday, Dr Ndlovu said nationalist must blame themselves for failing to articulate the ideals of the struggle to the youths.
“As veteran nationalists we should not apportion all the blame to the youths but should also blame ourselves. We must not tire to teach the youths as they will eventually take over the banner from us,” he said.

Dr Ndlovu said it was encouraging that some youths have shown appreciation of pan-Africanism as evidenced by yesterday’s event which was organised by the youths themselves.

Zanu-PF Secretary for Youth, Cde Absalom Sikhosana commended the youths for organising the event.
Song and dance marked the celebration of the occasion after which the youths were addressed by Dr Ndlovu and Cde Sikhosana.

A number of events were lined up this week to commemorate the Africa Day with churches leading the way on Sunday as they prayed for peace on the continent.
Africa Day is meant to commemorate the founding of the Organisation of African unity now African Union in 1963.

The organisation was formed to champion African solidarity in the fight for political independence,
In 2002 the organisation transformed to African Union on realisation that the thrust of the struggle had shifted from political freedom to the economic emancipation.
