THE Victoria Falls International Cultural Festival Tourism Expo this year promises to be bigger than previous years as jazz music galas and fashion shows are part of the line up.
The festival shortened to VicFest will stretch from August 6 to 12 at the resort town with some activities being held in Livingstone, Zambia.
The artistic director of the festival who is also well travelled imbube group Black Umfolosi founder member Tomeck Dube, said Victoria Falls was the ideal place to hold the festivals which was meant to promote tourism.
“When tourists come to Zimbabwe they want to see natural settings such as animals and the environment not building and roads. That is why we decided to hold this festival in Victoria Falls town so that we market one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Victoria Falls,” he said.
Dube said in Zambia they were also preparing for the same festival hence some of the activities will be held in that country. He said a fashion fair will be held where Zimbabweans and Zambians can showcase the different types of regalia for different traditional ceremonies.
“We shall be exhibiting different types of traditional regalia, types of food and showcasing the different dances. We shall have the Tonga, Kalanga, Ndebele, Shona and Manyika showcasing their cultures through song and dance,” said Dube.
The VicFest is being organised jointly by the Zimbabwe Music Association (Zimma), the African Cultural Tourisms Association and SEE Africa Adventures.
