A TEACHER at Silwane Primary School assaulted the headmaster in front of pupils in a row over accommodation.
Josphat Ndlovu (51) the headmaster and Lonias Shumba (40)a��s tiff had to be stopped by the police as Shumba behaved like a stabbed bull beating whoever tried to restrain him.
Shumba was arrested on assault charges and appeared before Lupane magistrate Ndumo Masuku.
According to the state outline, the teachers had a meeting after schools opened where the headmaster made an announcement that Shumba wasA� to swop his two-roomed cottage with another teacher Nkosiyabo Ndlovu.
Shumba was not happy with the arrangement and so reportedly shouted at his boss saying it was better to be transferred than to be given a one-roomed cottage.
After the incident, Shumba didna��t report for work only to resurface on 3 February at around 8am.
The headmaster summoned him to his office but he refused stating that he had no business with him.
A senior teacher had to intervene and he invited Shumba to his office and upon his arrival hell broke loose as he found him in the company of the headmaster.
The fuming Shumba started shouting obscenities at Ndlovu and when the senior teacher tried to calm him down, he pushed him aside and attacked the headmaster.
The pupils and staff watched helplessly as the headmaster was given a thorough hiding by the teacher.
Police were called and they arrested Shumba.
The presiding magistrate remanded him out of custody on $50 bail to 23 February.
