Teacher assaults neighbour over cigarette

Court Reporter
A Seke 3 High School teacher was last week fined US$50 for assaulting his neighbour who had refused to give him a cigarette.
Innocent Madenyika (43) of Unit A in Chitungwiza pleaded guilty to assault charges when he appeared before Chitungwiza magistrate Mr Donald Ndirowei.
Madenyika was fined and failure to pay which will result in a 20 day incarceration.
Prosecutor Ms Pauline Chamunorwa proved that on July 28 this year Madenyika approached his neighbour, Criswell Chimuti (46) at house number 1817 in Unit A in the same location.

Shortly after his arrival, Madenyika asked for a cigarette from Chimuti who refused to offer him one.

This did not go down well with Madenyika who in rage gave Chimuti a flurry of blows and pushed him to the ground.
Chimuti reported the matter to the police leading to Madenyika’s arrest.
