A TEACHER at Bangali Primary School in Lupane, Matabeleland North has been suspended after he was caught kissing and cuddling a Grade Seven female pupil.

The teacher, who cannot be named for ethical reasons was allegedly caught caressing and kissing a 12-year-old pupil in his room.

Matabeleland North Provincial Education Director Mrs Boithatelo Mnguni confirmed the incident and said a hearing has been set for Wednesday.

“The teacher is on suspension for improper association with a pupil and a hearing will be held next week on Wednesday,” she said last week.

A privy source at the school said the teacher was in the habit of proposing to pupils.

However, he was unlucky last week after he ordered a pupil to fetch water for him from his room. It is said after a couple of minutes he followed the unsuspecting pupil before grabbing her and pushing her on to a bed.

However, a female student teacher who suspected that the teacher could be abusing the pupil followed and found him kissing the pupil. The male teacher allegedly pleaded with the student teacher not to report the matter but the worried female teacher reported the matter to the school headmaster.
