A TEACHER from the Kariba district has been hauled to court by his ex-wife, who accuses him of child neglect.

Ronald Hombiro’s wife, Chengetai Maposa, yesterday demanded US$200 from him for child support.

He said he earned $60 000 and US$200 per month and his wife should also take responsibility for the child.

“l was previously employed somewhere, but I’m now a teacher in Kariba, and that’s why she dragged me here.

“I want my child to get a proper education and l won’t oppose any reasonable amount she demands, but for now l am offering US$30 plus $30 000,” he said.

Maposa said the offer wasn’t enough and said US$40 and $30 000 per month would be reasonable.

“The school demands a lot, so the amount he is offering is not enough.”

Magistrate Sharon Mashavire ordered Ronald to pay US$40 plus $30 000.
