A BELVEDERE teacher was hurled to the Harare Civil Court by his wife on allegations of physically abusing their pregnant daughter.
Veronica Murwisi accused her husband, Stoneboy Gweme, a teacher at Belvedere School, of constantly assaulting and insulting their pregnant daughter.
“He is very violent to an extent that my daughter is suffering due to the pains and injuries she sustained,” she said.
Murwisi told the court that when she tried to stop her husband, he hit her with a metal bar and broke her leg.
She also accused him of infidelity citing an instance where he spent the whole school term at his girlfriend’s place.
Murwisi said Gweme blames her for their daughter’s pregnancy.
She said her husband wants to throw her and their daughter out of the house and was also threatening to kill the unborn baby.
“He is showing that he no longer loves me, but as a husband and father, he must be responsible and support his family, and stop fabricating lies about me and blaming me for our daughter’s pregnancy,” said Murwisi.
She said that as a teacher, her husband must be someone of good moral standing and not an abuser.
Gweme denied abusing his pregnant daughter and wife.
“I am not abusing them, l only asked how our daughter got pregnant before marriage and as a father, l have the right to do so,” Gweme argued.
Magistrate Ms Meenal Narotam warned Gweme against abusing his pregnant daughter and assaulting his wife.
