CAMPING for the Zimbabwe National Youth Games Team Manicaland has been smooth at Hartzell High School and the provincial representatives in various sporting disciplines have no excuse for failure.
In an interview on Wednesday afternoon, Team Manicaland general manager, James Mwonzora, said the eastern border province team would be hoping to make good use of home advantage.
He said despite the challenges that they were having in female boxing after the three volunteers disappeared on the last minute, he had no doubt that they would excel in other disciplines.
“Unlike the male boxers who are there in excess, the only three female boxers we had let us down after giving excuses on the last minute.
“However, that cannot disturb the strength and morale in the rest of the disciplines. By virtue of us being on our home ground, there is nothing to discuss about us taking the first and second position only,” said Mwonzora.
He said: “Team Manicaland soccer team has already highlighted what it is capable of doing after beating the Zimbabwe Defence Forces Select team 1-0 last Monday at Sakubva Stadium.”
The boys’ soccer team received a kit from PHD Ministries founder, Walter Magaya.
Muttock Engineering also donated uniforms for the girls’ soccer team and for the boys’ and girls’ handball teams.
Mwonzora thanked every hand that contributed to the preparations of Team Manicaland in the run-up to the 2015 National Youth Games.
