Team Zim struggles at Junior Golf World Cup

THE Zimbabwe golf team struggled at the Toyota Junior Golf World Cup being played at the Chukyo Golf Club in Aichi-Prefecture, Japan finishing bottom of the 15 nation championship on 17 over par 218 on day three of the event yesterday. The tournament ends today. Top junior golfer Kieran Vincent was Zimbabwe’s only bright light, hitting a three under par 68 while his teammates Justin Kirsten, Jack Allard and David Amin carded a 10 over par 75, 14 over par 74 and 14 over par 77 respectively.

Defending champions Japan ended day three in second place behind leaders Sweden, scoring 12 under par 211. Sweden scored 16 under par 206 while Norway was third on 12 under par 214.

The championship encourages each team member to play with a patriotic spirit during the competition and to develop international friendships.

The tournament’s other goal is to assist develop junior golf.
