YOUNG tech-prenuers have developed a digital ticketing system that guarantees transparency, safeguarding events planners from the menacing theft of entry fares during shows.
Over the years, music promoters have been ripped off by bouncers who muscle their way to collect gate-takings and get away with rich pickings.
Some whose services would have been engaged to ensure security convert gate takings for personal use, leading to organisers losing thousands in possible revenue. Magetsi, a solution based tech company, has extended its services to include events ticketing.
The company’s sales and marketing leader Fungai Chimbuya (25) said Magetsi exists to make life easier with tech innovations.
“Our company is founded on the principles of finding technological solutions to challenges being faced in various sectors thus our newest product, the events ticketing is there to address challenges faced by the showbiz industry when it comes to accounting for their entry fees for various events,” she said.
“What we do is enter into agreements with events organisers or artistes’ management so that we sell tickets for them on our platform where their clients can pay using EcoCash, Mastercard, Visa and any other acceptable virtual payment platform.
“The process is so transparent that the event organisers can track the number of people buying their tickets digitally.
“After paying, one is emailed their ticket with a bar code which is then scanned at the entrance.
The process is completely paperless and thus environmentally friendly.
“A duplicate code is also sent via SMS which can also be entered into the system for one to enter the event. It can only be used once, and no one ticket can be used twice.”
Chimbuya said they can provide a support team at the event.
“This system allows events organisers comfort as they will not have to hold large sums of money at shows which can attract thieves and robbers who have been menacing the industry and other sectors of the economy.”
The company successfully worked their first event when they partnered with rising musician, Shashl during her recent album launch.
Magetsi is a tech company that has been operational since 2015. It was initially founded as one of the first digital payment platforms for prepaid electricity, but the company has since evolved to include various other products.
“This product is popular with tracking companies who are required to top up airtime for SIM cards fitted in vehicle tracking devices on a regular basis, now they can just top up all at once as opposed to in the past when they would spend days doing so for many vehicles.”
Magetsi’s continued evolution comes with new solutions and regular updates to make life easier.
