TWO burglars broke into Spellbound Electronics and stole various phones worth over US$10 000.
The phones were recovered from buyers around Harare.
Berenic Njinga and Oniel Chirisa appeared before Harare magistrate Isheanesu Matova charged with unlawful entry.
Njinga is a caretaker at a property along Bank Street and Chirisa is self-employed as a cellphone repair technician at the Gulf Complex.
The court heard that on December 28, Alfred Chikonyora knocked off duty at Spellbound Electronics and secured his shop by locking the main door and went home.
Later that night, the two broke into the shop after they removed a metal plate at the first floor entrance to gain entry.
They stole 55 cellphones, which were on the display counter.
Chikonyora discovered the offence the next day and filed a police report.
The court heard that last Wednesday, detectives from CID Stores received information that the two were behind the break in.
Njinga was arrested in Sotherton and a Redmi Note 13 Pro was recovered from him.
He then implicated Chirisa, who was arrested at the Gulf Complex.
Njinga led the police to the recovery of a Nokla C10 from his mother Junior Magura, a Samsung Galaxy tab A9 from his wife Madrin Kasu, a ZTE Blade TNE from Letwin Murahwa and six other cellphones from his cousin.
Mugada told the detectives he sold some of the phones to Clifford Magunje, Vimbai Mapondera, Tariro Makondera, Chifford Magunje and Tafadzwa Mapuranga, among others
The property recovered is worth US$4812.
