An 18-year-old Bulawayo man appeared in court facing charges of attempted murder after stabbing a 15-year-old boy during a dispute over an alleged affair.

Qhawelenkosi Mnkandla, from Nkulumane suburbs, was granted free bail and remanded to August 8, 2025, by Western Commonage magistrate Mrs Sibongile Marondedze.

The magistrate ordered that he must not interfere with the state witness, continue residing at the address provided in court and report to ZRP Nkulumane every Friday.

According to prosecutor Mr Milton Moyo, the incident occurred on July 19, 2025, at Sokusile Shopping Centre.

On that day, the complainant went to the shopping centre to download his homework.

While there, Mnkandla confronted him, questioning him about an affair.

An argument ensued, during which Mnkandla pulled out a knife and stabbed the complainant once on the left side of the chest.

The complainant sustained injuries and was admitted to Mpilo Hospital for treatment.
