Teen gets 30 months for stealing goats

He stole one of them and slaughtered it in the bush.
On the following day he proceeded to a nearby bush where the goat kids were grazing and stole one of them, which he slaughtered also.
Ndlovu had literally established a base in the bush where he would slaughter the goats and take the meat to his place of residence.
Ndlovu, who lived with an aunt as his father is in South Africa, was convicted on his own plea of guilty when he appeared before Tsholotsho resident magistrate Mr Toindepi Zhou on Monday.
He was being charged with two counts of theft and one of unlawful entry.
The two charges of theft were treated as one for the purpose of sentencing and Ndlovu was sentenced to 24 months in prison for them.
On the charge of unlawful entry, Ndlovu was sentenced to 18 months in prison and of the total 42 months, 12 were suspended for five years on condition he does not within that period commit an offence involving unlawful entry and theft.
He will serve an effective 30 months in prison.
On 4 December last year, Mr Moyo locked four goat kids in a spare bedroom hut when he went away.
Taking advantage of Mr Moyo’s absence, Ndlovu broke into the hut and stole one kid, which he slaughtered in the bush.
On the following day at about 2pm, the goat kids were grazing in a bush near the homestead when Ndlovu rounded them up and stole one of them and went to slaughter it.
Mr Moyo received a tip-off from neighbours that Ndlovu had stolen his goats and reported the matter to the police.
Ndlovu was arrested and only heads and hooves were recovered from a base he had established in the bush.
