AN 18-year-old man from the McDonald Bricks Compound allegedly raped his biological sister who is in Grade One. The man would, on separate occasions, allegedly put his sister on his lap and rape her. Afterwards, a court heard, he would ask her not to tell anyone. The siblings were accompanied to court by their mother who wept as her son took to the dock while she stood with the girl as the complainant.
“I didn’t rape my sister,” said the boy as he pleaded not guilty to rape before regional magistrate Chrispen Mberewere. Magistrate Mberewere remanded him in custody to today.
Prosecuting Trust Muduma alleges that between November and December 1, the man would abuse his sister in his bedroom. “He would call his sister to his room while their mother was away.
“ He would place her on his lap and rape her,” said Muduma. The court heard that this continued for a while until their mother noticed blood stains on her panties.
“The mother questioned the girl and she opened up and told her that her brother had been sexually abusing her for some time. She took the child to hospital and made a police report,” said Muduma.
Another Bulawayo teenager was recently sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for raping his seven-year-old sister.
The boy’s mother tried in vain to withdraw the charges.
