A 16-Year-old boy faces allegations of raping his 29-year-old mentally retarded aunt who is preg- nant.
The teenager appeared before Harare magistrate Ms Sandra Mpindu charged with two counts of rape.
He was placed in the custody of his parents.
It is alleged that sometime in May this year, the woman was at home doing household chores.
The boy approached her and reportedly asked to have sex with her but she refused.
It is alleged the teenager dragged her into his bedroom and raped her once using protection.
The State says sometime in June the boy raped his aunt again, telling her it was a way of strengthening the baby in her womb.
The matter came to light when the woman visited a local hospital seeking medical attention and narrated her ordeal to one of the nurses, the court heard.
The nurse noted some anomalies in the woman’s behaviour and had her psychiatrically examined.
The medical results indicated that she was mentally retarded.
The nurse accompanied the woman to police where the matter was reported, leading to the boy’s arrest.
