AN Ihlathi High School Form Three pupil stole her classmatea��s school fees and went on a spending spree.
The learner, whose name has been withheld for ethical reasons but is 18 years old stole $55 from her frienda��s satchel.
The thieving pupil is an orphan and stays with her grandmother. She has over one terma��s outstanding fees as her grandmother is battling to raise money.
The juvenile allegedly left the money in her satchel and went to the toilet but upon return, she found the money gone and had to confront her friend.
The friend professed ignorance and claimed not to know anything about the matter.A� A report was made at Tshabalala Police Station leading to the girla��s arrest.
She confessed to have taken the money and claimed that she had squandered it all on food as she had gone out to Steers restaurant with some friends.
A source who is a member of staff at the school who refused to be named for professional reasons said the thieving pupil and the victim were friends.
The matter was referred to Western Commonage courts where after a counselling session, the juvenile was spared jail after her friend felt sorry for her and decided to withdraw the charges.
