Teenage Hadebe on target

TOWERING defender Teenage Hadebe scored his second goal in America’s topflight Major League Soccer to save Houston Dynamo from the jaws of defeat with a late equaliser against Dallas at the weekend.

The 26-year-old national team defender was playing his 14th match for Dynamo, who are 11th on the Western Conference table with 22 points.

Hadebe timed his run and with no Dallas player tracking him as he made his way into the box, struck a rebound home in the 11th minute of optional time.

The point leaves Dynamo five points away from the final series play-offs spot.

Former Warriors forward Lucky Mkosana, who plays for Tampa Bay Rowdies in the USL Championship, played the last 16 minutes as his side edged Hartford Athletic. Rowdies are third on the table with 36 points from 19 matches, three behind leaders Louisville City and trail second-placed Memphis 901 by two points.

Ex-Dynamos shot stopper Tatenda Mukuruva inspired Michigan Stars to a 2-1 away win at third-placed Maryland Bobcats.

Mukuruva’s Michigan are second in the Eastern Conference table of the National Independent Soccer Association (NISA) with 20 points after 12 games. They trail leaders Chattanooga by five points.

In England, Marvelous Nakamba played the first-half in Aston Villa’s first pre-season friendly match they won 4-0 against Walsall. Villa are heading to Australia where they will play three friendly games against Leeds on July 17, Brisbane Roar three days later and cap their tour with a date against Manchester United on July 23.

In France, Tino Kadewere was given a run as Lyon beat Bourg-en-Bresse 4-2 in their friendly match, with the Zimbabwean forward missing a glorious opportunity, failing to beat the opposition keeper from close range in the 64th minute.

Kadewere will have to work hard to keep his place at Lyon, who have reunited with former Arsenal striker Alex Lacazette. — @ZililoR
