ZIMBABWE international Teenage Hadebe is poised to feature for FC Cincinnati when the club kicks off its competitive 2026 season against Univ. Organizacion Y Metod in the CONCACAF Champions Cup tomorrow.

The defender is declaring himself fully fit and optimistic about the campaign ahead.

The 30-year-old centre-back, whose contract option was extended by Cincinnati following the 2025 season, enters the new term with heightened expectations following a solid individual performance last year.

Hadebe made 24 appearances across the Major League Soccer regular season and playoffs in 2025, recording 36 tackles and 92 clearances while maintaining an 88% passing accuracy.

Speaking to reporters ahead of the continental fixture, Hadebe expressed confidence in his readiness and the team’s prospects.

“I am feeling very good, very strong. The pre-season has been about hard work, and I’m excited for the new season to finally start,” Hadebe said.

“I am optimistic. We have a great group of boys here, and I believe we can achieve something special.” Hadebe’s form for Cincinnati last season earned him a call-up to the Warriors for the recent Africa Cup of Nations where he was a linchpin for the team.

The defender is expected to compete for a starting role in central defence, particularly with the departure of left-back Lukas Engel following the expiration of his loan.

Matt Miazga’s return to full fitness also bolsters the backline, though Hadebe is anticipated to feature prominently in the rotation as Cincinnati navigates a congested early-season schedule.

“We know there is competition for places, and that is good for the team,” Hadebe said.

“My focus is just on being ready whenever the coach calls my name.

“Whether it’s in the Champions Cup or the league, I want to help the team win.”

Tomorrow’s Champions Cup tie against O&M FC marks Cincinnati’s first competitive action of 2026.

“The team needs to gel fast into the new season and stamp our authority on the pitch for us to be able to get desired results. We need to start the season on a positive note and we are ready,” said Hadebe.
