Teenager murders man for altercation with his sister

Inspector Thando Madhoyo on Wednesday confirmed the arrest of 19-year-old Jeffry Mutikani.
Asst Insp Madhoyo said the incident took place in Mbera Village of Sadza area under Chief Mushaninga.

“The now deceased Raston Mukandatsama (32) visited his girlfriend Maud Gundani (28) — who is Mutikani’s sister — at her home. It is reported that Mukandatsama later started demanding sadza and meat from Gundani,” said Asst Insp Madhoyo.

He said the two had a misunderstanding and Mutikani, who heard the commotion, attacked Mukandatsama with a wooden stick.

Mukandatsama, he said, tried to run away but the teenager caught up with him and continued with the assault until he lost consciousness.

Mutikani reportedly rushed to Mukandatsama’s homestead and lied that he had fallen while running from Pokoteke Business Centre.

Mukandatsama was taken to Pokoteke Clinic where his condition deteriorated.
He was later transferred to Chivhu District Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Asst Insp Madhoyo said Mutikani was immediately arrested and is assisting police with investigations.
He appealed to members of the public to solve their differences amicably and to desist from taking the law into their own hands.
