Teenager raped at cemetery

A SUSPECTED rapist was arrested when a Good Samaritan crew found a girl crying at Luveve Cemetery and quickly followed the direction the man took fleeing the scene.

Mbekezeli Mhlanga and three other friends disembarked from their vehicle to establish what had happened to a teenage girl who in tears revealed she had been raped by a stranger, who was later identified as Dumani Madi.

a�?We saw her crying while dressing up and she told us she had just been raped,a�? he said.

She pointed to the direction the man had gone and they quickly followed, in no time they found a lead.

a�?Zesa guys who were fixing a pole not far off from the scene said a man who fitted the description she gave had passed by a few minutes earlier,a�? he added.

They quickened their pace.

a�?We found him just as he was about to approach the Luveve main road and hit him into submission. We later handed him to Luveve police,a�? added Mhlanga.

Madi appeared before Magistrate Mr Chrispen Mberewere and was sentenced to 20 years in jail.
