A Chitungwiza teenager allegedly raped his five-year-old cousin while accompanying her home from school. The teenager (18) was not asked to plead to rape charges before Chitungwiza magistrate Mr Lazarus Murendo.
Mr Murendo remanded him in custody to next Monday.
The prosecutor, Mr Tatenda Mukatera told the court that the teenager was tasked to accompany his Grade Zero cousin to and from school on a daily basis.
On November 2 and at around 12pm, the teenager allegedly went to the minor’s school as usual.
While they were walking home, the girl was in the company of her friend.
It is alleged that he allegedly left the two girls walking alone as he went to another house situated along the road.
The court heard that he later called his cousin to the back of the house and she complied.
He undressed himself and the minor and raped her.
After the offence, he took the minor home after instructing her not to reveal the offence. However, the minor reportedly informed her friend after a few days and in turn told her mother.
