Teenagers in the dock for rape

TWO teenagers appeared in court yesterday facing charges of raping minors aged four and five. In the first case, a 17-year-old Ruwa boy allegedly raped his five-year-old sister on two different occasions. The boy appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Tendai Mahwe. Mr Mahwe remanded the boy in the custody of his mother to December 9.

The State is alleging that the boy raped his sister on November 14.

He raped his sister again the following day.

He assaulted the minor and threatened to cause her further harm if she reported the matter to anyone. In another case, a 14-year-old Harare boy appeared in court facing charges of raping a four-year-old girl.

The boy allegedly committed the offence in the presence of the minor’s nephew. He appeared before Harare magistrate Ms Sandra Mpindu facing rape charges.

The State is alleging that on unknown dates in January the boy summoned the girl to his bedroom and raped her once.

The boy is alleged to have committed the offence in the presence of the girl’s nephew.

The nephew threatened to kill the minor if she reported the matter to anyone.
