TELONE’s battle for survival in the Premier Soccer League suffered a huge blow after this loss at Bata Stadium here yesterday. 

The WiFi Boys’ season has been marred by inconsistent performances, resulting in a string of disappointing losses. 

Donald Ngoma was the hero of the day, after his third-minute goal sealed the win for Saul Chaminuka’s charges. 

TelOne FC have themselves to blame as their forwards – Washington Navaya and Blessing Sahondo – took turns to waste good chances. 

Kudzai Jaison even missed a penalty in the 86th minute, after Blessing Sibanda was fouled by Darren Mutimuzenze. 

GreenFuel protested against the decision by referee, Allen Bhasvi, to award the penalty, however, the decision stood. 

TelOne are yet to win at home since Herbert Maruwa took charge in May after Tendai Chikuni was fired. 

“We got the chances, Navaya and Blessing Sahondo got two chances each but could not score. 

“We had the luxury of a penalty but it was saved. 

“I am trying to find the winning formula by changing the team and I hope it will pay off with 15 games remaining. We go back and try again in the next match,” he said. 

GreenFuel assistant coach, Taurai Mangwiro, said:

“We needed this, we are relieved because all along we have been picking draws away. 

“At least, we finally won and I hope in the next games, we will be successful as well.”
