TelOne targets to recover US$50 million

TelOne, the country’s fixed line operator is aiming to recover US$50 million by year end through a debt collection campaign that started early this week. The company’s chief executive Mrs Chipo Mtasa said yesterday that the debt recovery strategies were critical for the firm to raise money to re-finance its operations.

Most subscribers have reportedly not been paying bills since the dollarisation of the economy in 2009.

TelOne credit control teams have started visiting all clients with outstanding telecommunications services bills. The teams were verifying outstanding amounts and negotiating payment plans with the affected clients.
