TelOne wallop Bikita Minerals

TelOne 6-1 Bikita Minerals
TELONE registered their biggest win of the season with a comprehensive 6-1 victory over Bikita Minerals at Ascot Stadium yesterday.
Forwards, Washington Navaya and Nkosiyabo Masilela each got a brace while skipper, Trust Nyabinde and Zivanai Dubai got the other goals.
Tinashe Ruzive got the consolation for the visitors.
This was only TelOne’s second win at home this season as it came in style lifting hem out of the relegation waters.
The Gweru based outfit moves a rung up on the log standings to 14th place on 29 points.
TelOne coach Hebert Maruwa was delighted by the manner in which his charges went about their business.
“I am happy with the results, I have been saying it that goals will come and I am happy there is progress in the team,” Maruwa said.
“I have always said on a good day we can score many goals and today was the day we need to make sure we maintain this and move away from the relegation zone.”
Maruwa added that his side needs to remain focused on the ultimate goal of survival and should use this result to build confidence for the forthcoming matches.
“We remain focused, we still need to go to Chegutu and get a positive result, the games are not easy but we need to psyche up the players,” he added.
His Bikita Minerals counterpart, Arnold Jani was disappointed and suggested there may be other forces behind his side’s loss.
“All I can say is we lost, a heavy defeat, but sometimes as coach you may not know what is happening in your camp. Like today this is not the way we play, it was a different game altogether, my players did not have the heart,” bemoaned Jani.
The Lithium boys are now in 13th place on the log table with 31 points.
The WiFi boys got a head start to the match when they surged ahead inside the first minute with Navaya heading home from close range after a defensive blunder by the visitors.
Nyabinde doubled the lead after 15 minutes with a tap in from inside the box before Masilela cleverly turned in Nyabinde’s cross five minutes later.
However, Ruzive reduced the arrears with a fine low shot just after the half hour mark. Masilela got his brace just before the break to restore the three goal cushion.
Navaya made sure the WiFi boys put the game to bed with a cool finish on the 49th minute mark after another defensive lapse by the visitors.
Dubai completed the rout six minutes before the final whistle slotting the ball into an empty net after a sleek move involving Blessing Sahondo.
