Masvingo- Beitbridge Road will be temporarily closed to public traffic near Ngundu on Friday September 19, 2025 to allow rock blasting on the road works currently underway.

Masvingo-Beitbridge Road is currently being widened and reconstructed by private contractors hired by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development.

In a public notice, the contractor, Bitumen World said: “Bitumen World (Pvt) Ltd is working on the section of road from the 90 km peg to the 106 km peg.

“To enable the work, it is necessary to remove rock adjacent to the road in the vicinity of km 101,2 close to Chivake River Bridge and at km 103,8, approximately 6 km south of Ngundu Village.

“The rock will be removed by blasting and this work is planned to take place on Friday, September 19 2025,” reads the notice.

For the safety of the motoring public, it will be necessary to close the road to all traffic during the period of blasting, which may take up to one hour between 12 pm and 1 pm to allow time for clearing blast debris from the road after blasting has taken place.
