TEN people were killed in two road traffic accidents on Thursday and Friday.
Police national spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed the accidents.
He said the bodies of the victims of the accident, which occurred along the Harare- Shamva Road, were taken to Shamva Hospital mortuary.
“The ZRP confirms a fatal road traffic accident, which happened at the 18 kilometre peg along the Harare- Shamva Road,” he said.
“Seven people were killed while two others were injured when a Nissan Caravan vehicle, with eight passengers on board, veered off the road to the left before overturning several times and landing on its roof.
“The bodies of the victims were taken to Shamva Hospital mortuary for post-mortem whilst the injured are admitted at Bindura Hospital.”
Meanwhile, in another fatal road traffic accident, which happened along the Natview-Hobhouse Road, in Mutare, three pedestrians died on the spot.
“The pedestrians, who were walking by the road side, died after they were hit by an Ateco Benz lorry, which had veered off the road,” Ass Comm Nyathi said.
“The driver, and two passengers who were on board as well as a pedestrian, were injured.
“The bodies of the victims were taken to Victoria Chitepo Hospital for post-mortem while the injured were admitted at the same hospital.”
