Tenant gets landlord arrested for a�?thefta��

A Bulawayo man was left in shock when his tenanta��s daughter got him arrested for theft after he took away his fathera��s property from the living room.

Leeroy Nkomoa��s drinking spree ended with him behind bars after Nicollete Sibanda reported him for theft.

Nkomo allegedly stole property worth $15 000 including a 42 inch Samsung plasma TV, a Samsung Home Theatre set, sweets and biscuits.

Appearing at the Bulawayo Magistrates court before Nyaradzo Ringisai, Nkomo told the court that he had not done anything wrong as the property belonged to his father and Sibanda was abusing their generosity by inviting her friends all the time.

a�?I came back home late at night on the day of the incident and found Sibanda in the company of her friends playing the radio. This angered me and I took away all the property which was in the living room, but she is now saying I stole the property. How can I steal my fathera��s property?a�? he said.

Nkomo further alleged that Sibanda was bitter as his actions had embarrassed her in front of her friends.

a�?I do not know why she reported the matter knowing very well that the property belongs to my father and allowing her to use the property was a privilege,a�? he added.

Sibanda, however, maintained that Nkomo and his friend had no right to repossess the property as it was not under his custody.

a�?On the day of the incident he came back from a beer drinking spree and said he was taking his fathera��s belongings which were not under his care and this amounts to theft,a�? Sibanda said.

Magistrate Ringisai remanded him in custody and will appear in court on 14 November for judgment.
