Tenants at loggerheads

A Harare man left the courtroom in a jubilant mood after his protection order application against a fellow tenant was granted by the Harare Civil Court.

Richard Saliwe accused Simba Svikiro of insulting him and locking a door he is not supposed to lock.

“We rent at the same house and I have allowed him to use one of the rooms I was supposed to be using, but now he insults and harasses me, calling me all sorts of names. He even calls me a dog,” said Richard.

“He removed the toilet door and now my wife is facing challenges using it.”

Simba opposed the application, saying the application was premised on lies.

“We last had a misunderstanding last year. The reason we are here is because he had a misunderstanding with my wife when I was at work.

“I do not even lock the door, the passage door is broken,” said Simba.

However, magistrate Tamara Chibindi was not convinced by Simba’s objection.
