Tenants ordered to vacate Ximex mall

However, the tenants are resisting the eviction arguing that no guarantee has been given that they will reoccupy the premises.

NSSA general manager Mr James Matiza last week said the tenants were in January given six months to vacate the building.

“Tenants were given notice to vacate by June 30, 2010 to enable the property to be refurbished.
“As at June 30, 2010 tenants did not move out and instead are refusing to leave.
“The reason for not leaving is that tenants are alleging that NSSA wants to remove them and replace them with foreigners as soon as they vacate the building,” he said.
Mr Matiza said the mall had become a haven for criminals.
