Tennis tourney attracts 80 players

THE junior tennis tournament held at Bulawayo Athletic Club attracted 80 players from different schools and clubs in Bulawayo.

The three-day tournament for Under-12s, Under-14s and Under-18s started on Friday.

Shannel Madzimbamuto won the Under-12 girls’ title after beating Kelly Masuku 6-0, 6-2, while Melania Marangwanda from Robert Tredgold Primary School came third.

In the boys’ category, there was battle between the SOS Primary School duo of Makanaka Whata and Mqhelisi Sithole, with the latter prevailing 2-6, 6-2, 10-4.

The Under-14 girls’ event was won by Kudzai Chapepa from Carmel Primary. She beat Kudzai Mangwana from Townsend High.

Romeo Khanye from St Columbus dismissed Martin Nyoni from Josiah Chinamano in the Under-14 boys competition.

Zandile Mguni from Dominican Convent High clinched the Under-18 girls title after beating Munashe Bera from Girls College.

Zamani Moyo from Northea High was tops in the boys Under-18 after beating Felix Tazvivinga from Josiah Chinamano. — @DecoDecent2
