Thaluso Da Poet tackles GBV through poem

POET Thaluso Da Poet has taken up the fight against ills in society as he has penned a poem titled Isibopho Esisha to try and address issues of gender-based violence.

The poem will be released on Wednesday on the artistes’ YouTube channel. It is also set to be launched on Khulumani FM.

This comes at a time when the United Nations is marking 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence under the global theme “Orange the World: End Violence against Women Now”.

Thaluso Da Poet said the poem is driven by the need to address GBV without taking sides in terms of gender.

“My poem seeks to talk on behalf of young girls, women and mostly men who due to our culture, have been labelled as strong characters and usually fail to openly speak about the abuses they face.

“I want to encourage them to open up with the poem being the voice of the voiceless. The poem also talks about learning to forgive,” he said.

The poet said the poem is part of his debut album titled Umhlaba Lento Zawo that he is working on. — @mthabisi_mthire
