MBIRA artiste, Thandy Dhlana on Thursday launched her debut album Ongaziwayo with fans praising her feat. The launch was held at Horizon Pub and Leisure Centre before a sizeable crowd that had veteran radio personality Ezra “Tshisa” Sibanda. The show, that was supposed to begin at 6pm started at 8.45pm, after some of the group members were said to be tied up at church.
The crowd waited patiently.
Nearly three hours later, the show began and Thandy made up for the delay with a sterling performance. The songstress began her show with, Ngikuthand’ ekuseni and built into her title track Ongaziwayo.
The live show got some in the crowd on their feet showing off their nimble footedness. After the show, Thandy said she appreciated all the support she got from the people of Bulawayo.
“I am impressed, in fact happy that everyone came out to support me on my album launch. It shows that they really appreciate what I do,” she said.
Thandy added: “What also surprised me is that 50 CDs have been sold tonight. I am overwhelmed by the support and again thank you to everyone.”
The four-track album has songs such as Hamba khululeka, Ngikuthand’ ekuseni, Makanaka and the title track Ongaziwayo. Thandy has worked with renowned dancer Sandra Ndebele under the Intombi Zomqangala project.
