THAT’S WITCHCRAFT, AS CHIEF SLAMS TWO-IN-ONE GRAVE

Arron Nyamayaro

A TRADITIONAL chief has described the burial of two brothers, in one grave, as “a form of witchcraft.”

Chief Chinamhora, whose real name is Lister Chidziva, told H-Metro it was taboo and a violation of traditional culture.

“The Mupanduki family observed our culture by collecting soil from a foreign land where they had buried Itai Mupandika to their village for reburial,” said Chief Chinamhora.

“According to our culture that soil in the coffin was the body.

“Opening the grave to bury another body was clear witchcraft practice.

“Ndihwo hunonzi huroi ihwohwo.”

He added:

“Pachivanhu chedu mumwe nemumwe murinda rake.

“We know there are some cultures that allow burial of a number of bodies in one grave but, to us, it is taboo.

The Mupanduki family has been left divided over the issue.

A family member, Eugenia Nancy Mashiri, ordered that the two brothers, Itayi and Danny, should be buried in one grave.

The burial took place on Sunday in Madziva.
