THE Zambian prince of laughter, The African Joker, is set to cement his romance with local fans later this month.
Born Eric Mwaanga, the comedy sensation will meet Zimbabwean fans on May 24 at 7 Arts Theatre in Avondale, Harare.
Blessing Jeke of Proma Events, in conjunction with DTL Entertainment, are hosting the comedian.
Jeke confirmed The African Joker’s inaugural Harare show.
“We do expect The African Joker in Harare on May 22 to have a feel of the city before the main events.
“It’s his first time to perform in Zimbabwe where we are expecting a night of laughter and fun.
“Laughter is needed for people to ease their stress and this time around we are giving the honours to The African Joker as he comes to Harare for his first show,” he said.
Jeke, who has business interests in Zambia, said he met the stand-up comedian in Mulungushi in 2022, where they exchanged notes on possible collaborations with local acts.
“He is set to perform with some of the underground artists.
“We have drawn that list of underground comedians who have been cracking people’s ribs for years without recognition.
“One of the comedians taking part in the event is Sipho Mercent Nyathi who has been presented with opportunities to shine.
“Fans will have to fork out US$30 for VIP and US$20 for the rest of the seats,” he added.
The African Joker is also a radio personality and marketing guru in Zambia.
