Changing Perspectives

Winners are dreamers, but not all dreamers are winners.
Winning is not about outdoing everyone, being on top, being the first or being the best.
It is about pushing, falling and getting up to keep on pushing until what you do begins to impact other people’s lives positively, while you get satisfied, established and fulfilled in the process.
It is not the will to win that matters (everyone has that), but the courage to walk through the road to victory that usually lacks.
When defeat comes, just accept it as a learning curve, re-strategise and continue to move forward.
In most cases, anyone can deal with victory, but, when it comes to defeat, only the courageous can take it.
Born to fight
We are born to fight and destined to win. What this simply means is that victory does not come on a silver platter, you have to fight for your victory, and it is not a matter of fighting anyhow.
You need to fight using winning strategies.
The struggle is real and it will continue to be real till the day we die.
To be triumphant, one needs to be deliberate, intentional, strategic and alert to the demands of changing times.
One also needs to understand their environment so that they can plan and strategise accordingly.
Victory comes when you get to know your enemy on one hand; get to know yourself on the other hand and then live the difference.
In most cases, the greatest limitation comes from within.
Understand your weaknesses and find mentors who will push you beyond your fears.
Ability to conquer self-limitation is one of the first steps towards victory.
The beauty of defeat
In every defeat is a lesson. Do not take defeat negatively.
Courage, strength and perseverance usually come from the struggles, hardships and defeats you encounter. When you win, almost everyone makes noise about it – remember, you are not as good as they all say.
When you lose, almost everyone makes noise about it also – remember, you are not as bad as everyone says.
Therefore, do not beat yourself so hard over failing, just focus on doing what you do best and improve on areas that require attention.
Most of the great champions we celebrate today once experienced defeat in their life.
Self-Awareness
Self-awareness is one of the most important attributes of a winner. To be a great champion it is better to compete with yourself than with anyone else because you are the only one who gets to limit yourself more than anyone else. Real competition is within you. Look in the mirror and you will see your rival. Become a winner within yourself first and it will be easier to become a winner among others.
It is also important to celebrate life often so that it becomes a lifestyle.
For instance, if you are building a house, celebrate upon completing the foundation, then window level, roof level and eventually upon completing the whole house.
As such, do not stress over being the ultimate winner; inasmuch as being a winner is good, it should not be the focus.
It is better to allow that position to come naturally and gradually when you probably least expect it.
We have so many winners among us who do not even realise it because somehow they wait for others to tell them about their victories.
If you focus on being a winner, you are likely to constantly stress yourself.
Focus on excellence and consistency, and success will follow, and before you realise it, you may be a winner.
Unhealthy competition
The desire to outdo others sometimes causes a lot of unhealthy competition within organisations.
People will do whatever it takes to win at the expense of others.
Everyone within an organisation is a winner to a certain extent.
Of course there are also those who fail their assignments dismally; however, many contribute significantly towards the achievement of the organisation’s vision.
All those people qualify to be called winners in their different capacities and that is why performance bonus is given to all according to their achievements. It is also possible to have more than one winner in an organisation.
So, just do what you do best while running in your own lane.
