AN age-old song derived from Philippians 4:4. We sing in order to praise the Lord and also as an expression of faith. We also sing in adoration of His glory and His unmerited favour.
We rejoice again because it is the right thing to do. King David was good at that, including playing blissful music. But, it is in the book of Revelation that we see that praising and worshipping the Lord should be a lifestyle, and not something we do when we gather in church. And not something done by a few people in our praise and worship teams.
As we go for the National Heroes holidays, with most people attending conventions, there will be a lot of the Word mixed with rejoicing, and so much music to honour His Holy name. For, He is worthy!
Wherever you are meeting, do as Paul exhorted: “Speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Ephesians 5:19, NIV).
Ministering to those in authority
The upcoming events we have are nothing but a drop in the ocean. There are many activities lined up, including youth conventions. It would be interesting to get feedback from young Christians on the events they will have attended. But, I have been wondering how the country’s national leadership gets ministered to. I might not have the statistics, the majority are Christians, and they enjoy attending Christian events.
Do people like the President, Prime Minister, their deputies and cabinet ministers attend church service regularly – mixing and mingling with other congregants?
Because of the nature of their jobs, do men and women of God have arrangements to ensure that they are always spiritually fed?
The Bible has Saint Paul who preached even to kings and queens – the whole chain of command of Caesar’s court. (Acts 23 – 28). He told King Agrippa, “But I have had God’s help to this very day, and so I stand here and testify to small and great alike.” (Acts 26:22)
They might watch satellite channels, but local preachers are cutting DVDs/CDs of their sermons every time, including DVDs of the forthcoming events we publish here. Men and women of God are also publishing books.
Have any of these reached those in authority, so that the Word resonates among all, and, so that they do not depend on newspaper reports to know how the body of Christ is functioning?
Reflections on AFM Knowe crusade
Taurai, a Norton resident was so overjoyed, as he wanted to share with readers highlights of the glorious experiences they recently had at a crusade at their AFM Knowe Assembly. The crusade was held last week from Thursday evening to Sunday (July 28 – 30). Pastor Mubaiwa hosted, and he shared the podium with three invited pastors including AFM Zimbabwe’s overseer Pastor Chiyangwa.
Wrote Taurai: ‘”Most Christians fight battles against sin but they are defeated because they have not gone through the right gates of salvation’. This was one of the messages at the crusade.
“The pastors preached at length in order to save lost souls. Pastor Bhonda of AFM Westlea preached about love and his message was so rich that even those who didn’t understand love in marriages, families and friendships left the crusade equipped with the rich words from the man of God.
“Pastor Mubaiwa touched the souls of crusaders to the extent that most of them were left in tears as the preacher based the message on personal experiences. She made it clear that she learnt to accept the departure of her loved one since it was the Lord’s will.
“Overseer Chiyangwa preached on respect at work; at home; and even in family structures.” (‘Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.’ – Ephesians 5: 21)
Taurai said the crusade was a success and that it was “a soul touching event. Worshippers turned up in large numbers.”
“In his closing remarks, Pastor Mubaiwa said, ‘We want to thank God for what He has done in our lives and to continue trusting God since there is much more to be done. We pray that God will give us wisdom to handle the challenges. Thank you AFM Knowe Assembly for your support’.”
We thank Taurai for sharing.
