TICKETS to the premiere of The Bulawayo Show are selling like hotcakes with three quarters already sold out – two weeks before the show’s premiere.Three 45-minute animated video clips of The Bulawayo Show will be launched at Rainbow City One on August 8 with organisers contemplating on using Rainbow City Two to accommodate more people.

Executive producer of the show, Zenzele Ndebele, said the response they were getting from people had been overwhelming.

“So far we have sold three quarters of the tickets for the show. Rainbow City One has a sitting capacity of 150 people and we have sold over 100 tickets.

“If Rainbow City one fills up before the day of the show, we will consider using Rainbow City Two so that everyone watches the show at once,” Ndebele said.

In April this year, comic video clips of The Bulawayo Show which comprise seven mini comedy clips, Sgwadi Mampara, Ntuthu, Comedy Club, Alpha News, Amabeats, Office Gossip and The Kingdom went viral online. After the success of the clips online, producers decided to launch the clips to the public.

The clips tackle various life issues including drug abuse, peer pressure, youths and dating. Popular characters on the clips are Sox and Ratu who are always on various missions.

Ndebele said those who wanted to purchase tickets to the show, which have been pegged at $5, could visit their Facebook page – The Bulawayo Show and get more details there.

“People should buy their tickets in advance so that they avoid disappointment. Judging by the popularity of the show, it will be an opportunity for fans to finally meet the producers behind the clips,” he said.

Ndebele commended the business community in the city for their support saying they had been given money to offset some of their costs.

“We have a lot of support from the corporates. So far, about four companies have come on board and we appreciate their support,” he said.

The shows’ souvenirs will be sold to the public after the premiere.

“After the show, fans can buy t-shirts and DVDs of the show.  The t-shirts will have characters of the show such as Ntuthu, Ratu and Khulu Nxumalo among others,” Ndebele said.
