The buzz of social media

It seems the social media has taken over the world completely. Gone are the days when one is being scalded or hurt unknowingly, the person will confront the abuser face to face. With social media, it is now a thing of the past because wars are surprisingly fought in the open. Alas, stand your ground and move away from cyber bullying. It’s not even cool by the way.

Opps, my manners, how is your lovely weekend. We are almost half- way through the first term and hopefully you made a good cause out of it.

Selfie, selfie, selfie.

This is no longer nothing new with this generation and surprisingly the techno-world continues to upgrade features and gadgets for that. There is a dedicated selfie camera which is something I thought was unnecessary until the Podo came along.

Does the world need a dedicated selfie camera?

Apparently, it does.

That’s the only way to explain the apparent kickstarter success of Podo, a stick-and-shoot camera aimed at the selfie-loving crowd.

An alternative to selfie sticks, it’s a dedicated app-controlled camera with an adhesive back that can be stuck, removed, and restuck onto any flat surface.

That way, you don’t have to mount your smartphone on a stick to take a selfie at a flattering distance – simply stick this onto a wall, a window, or the Windows 95 backpack of some stranger standing in front of you, then strike a pose.

Podo adheres to surfaces using a rewashable and restickable pad, with an integrated magnet underneath, so it adheres even better to ferromagnetic surfaces. It comes with an 8.0 megapixel sensor, an 8-LED array for a really strong flash, bluetooth, 4GB of on board storage, a rechargeable battery good for two straight hours of non-stop shooting, and even an on board accelerometer for automatically orienting pictures correctly, regardless of how you stick it on a surface.

The camera is controlled via an accompanying app, so you retain full control of the frame without having to stretch one arm to hold out a selfie stick.

Price range is $89 and start saving if you don’t want to be left out.

For the fashion enthusiasts, remember fashion is dynamic and from gold chains to slush tops enter, traxedo which is the new tracksuit-tuxedo mashup you never knew you wanted.

Remember those shirts with drawn silhouettes of tuxedos printed on them?

Turns out, they grew up into a tracksuit called the traxedo.

And, yes, a tracksuit tuxedo is just as ridiculous as it sounds.

Similar to those old tuxedo shirts, it comes bearing printed notch lapels to create the tuxedo appearance, with the coat part decked in colour and the shirt area set in plain white. Naturally, it includes a matching tie. Rather than just the drawing of a bow tie, though, it comes with a real tie pre-attached to the collar, making the tuxedo aesthetic just a little more believable. The traxedo is a two-piece tracksuit, with separate tops and bottoms. They are alreday taking Harare by storm by the way.

The top is a one-piece, zippered jacket, while the pants come with tuxedo lines running along the outside leg.

It wears as comfy as any tracksuit, too, so it’s perfect for doing your morning runs around the neighbourhood, walking your dog in the park, or just doing errands about town on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

While it doesn’t look that way, the jacket actually zips up completely from the bottom to the top, so it’s just as easy to take it off as that Adidas tracksuit you’ve been wearing to the gym since the 90s.

Does it look like a real tuxedo? Heck, no.

They are made in a variety of colours, the Traxedo is priced at $59,99 locally in several shops.

Good news, is one local promoter, and DJ from Big Base Entertainment is planning on bringing Chris Brown here. If rumours are true, we can’t wait for the “Loyal” hitmaker and one question many are asking is, who will sideline with him.

This is more of a hip-hop – R&B affair avoid linking him with the dancehall artistes.

Till next week. Keep the swag.
