A HATCLIFFE man was yesterday told by his ex-girlfriend that he was not the father of her child.
Dorcas Karwendo told the Harare Civil Court that her ex-boyfriend, Aleck Chitengu, was in the habit of kidnapping her child.
She was granted a peace order.
“We broke up after finding out he was married and now he comes to my house at night to insult me, saying I should leave the house.
“I bought the house with my hard-earned money.
“He kidnapped my child and threatened to sell him to enrich himself and I want this order so that he can be barred from visiting my house or taking my child.”
Aleck denied all the allegations and, instead, said the house belongs to him.
He said he took the child because he always thought he was the father.
“I am married and live with my wife. I want her to move out of my house so that I can move in with my family.
“All along I thought the child was mine, only to be told in court that it’s not mine,” said Aleck.
Magistrate Sharon Mashavira granted Dorcas the peace order and warned Aleck not to abuse, approach Dorcas’ place of residence or kidnap her child.
He was advised to go for a DNA test to ascertain paternity.
