IMAGINE a church service being conducted in a BAR?
It sounds strange, doesn’t it?
Well, if you thought we have heard all the wild and weird, when it comes to the new generation of pastors and prophets, which includes the drama that comes from Talent Madungwe, then take a step back and listen to this tale.
In this country, we actually have a church service which is being conducted in a BAR.
Apparently, about 80 to 100 loyal followers converge every week to hear Apostle Mike Mutambikwa, “preach the word of God.”
And, for this maverick pastor, it’s all part of his calling.
His church members, he told H-Metro, include musician Willom Tight.
Apostle Mutambikwa, of the Early Christhood Development Church, even believes it’s a powerful move to also try and convert those who spend a lot of time drinking beer.
“We conduct our services at Moonlight Sports Bar at Kamunhu Shopping Centre in Mabvuku,” he told this newspaper.
He claims it’s a calling he received when he was young.
“I received this calling of preaching the word of God in a bar.
“I want those who go to the bars to know that there is God, who loves everyone.
“My aim is to find the lost sheep and win people’s souls.
“The ministry started in 2017.”
The maverick pastor is based in Mabvuku.
He also did a single track with Willom Tight titled Tichatongwa.
“I did a track with Tight because he is also one of my church members.
“People are not paying tithes, but God is continuing to use me to perform miracles.”
He added:
“People who usually come to church are around 80 to 100 and we have applied for land to construct our church.”
