The demise of the businessman

Blabbermouth Town Talk
A FOOL and his fortune will soon part!
Well, the person I am talking about here was an envy of many and an epitome of enterprising upcoming young businesspeople. He started his enterprise from humble beginnings together with his wife. They had a small shop at this busy market place in the Central Business District where illegal activities are the order of the day.

Hubby travelled down the Limpopo like a nomad to buy wares, chiefly cell phone accessories, for resale at their shop.
The business flourished and in no time it was the talk of the town. As usual he bought several cars, some of them vintage models, as a show of the good times rolling his way.

Indeed, he earned a name among men and all sorts of labels such as mudhara and mukoma were his. When this businessman opened a night club in this high density suburb whose name has something to do with water, we celebrated his diversity as a sure sign of business growth and great things to come. It was a welcome development as revellers from all walks of life thronged the joint as if there was no tomorrow.

High profile music artistes performed at the joint and in no time the relatively sleepy neighbourhood burst into life.
But the sweetness was not to last.
As the clock ticked, our poor entrepreneur lost the plot as fame got the better of him.

Ladies of questionable morals flocked around him to scavenge on his growing fortune.
With equal proportions, bad friends that were only concerned with dipping their hands into his pockets mobbed him as if he were some sort of a saviour. Instead of promoting his new venture to lure customers, our poor businessman used the club to entertain his long list of thigh vendors.

Some would travel from Harare to eat and drink for free.
His friends cheered loudly as he spent the money like a Rock star.
This was done at the expense of workers’ welfare and debt payments.

Some months down the line, signs of a struggling business started to show. When you go broke those who used to wine and dine with you will distance themselves in an instant.

Instead of coming to your rescue they will tell the whole world how you wantonly blew out your fortune.
I am told his wife has now engaged into some conning staff, taking various amounts from people whom she fails to pay back.
She is no stranger to the Civil Court for she has been hauled there several times.
