TWO suspected armed robbers were in the dock yesterday after being implicated by their accomplices, who have already appeared in court.

Obert Matarirano and Edward Mawuye appeared before magistrate Marewanazvo Gofa, who remanded them in custody, and advised them to apply for bail at the High Court.

The court heard that on October 19 last year, the two teamed up with their accomplices to rob S&M Bricks.

They went to the premises in two Honda Fit vehicles dressed in army uniforms armed with unidentified pistols.

They ordered workers to lie down and demanded firearms and cash before tying their hands.

They allegedly ransacked the offices and took US$42 000 which was in a metal cylinder, US$1 110 in a wallet inside a drawer, an Oppo Reno 10 cellphone, Oppo Ace cellphone, Oppo power bank, a Chinese passport and driver’s licence.

They deflated tyres of a white Ford Ranger parked outside before driving off in their getaway cars.

On the second count, they robbed Zim Steel along Kirkman Road.

They went there with Petros Mubaiwa and Tongai Magoto dressed in complete Zimbabwe National Army uniforms.

They said they were searching for firearms which were illegally being kept on the premises.

They threatened the employees with pistols and tied everyone’s hands using rope and demanded cash and valuables from them.

They ransacked the office and took cash amounting to US$10 000.

They took every employee’s cellphone and stole a CCTV server.

Mawuye also appeared separately on another charge of robbing Svodai Titi at her home in Chitungwiza.

They stole US$4 000 that was in her bag as well as her gun and 17 rounds of ammunition.
