The last stop before SA

Zimbabwe’s team for the African Junior Championships will fine-tune its preparations today when members take part in the penultimate event on the local calendar in Harare.
Triathlon Zimbabwe president Rick Fulton disclosed that the event to be held in Mt Pleasant will have trikidz, trisport, short mini, long mini and standard races.
“This is our second last event for the year and we want to use this event to prepare for the championships in South Africa next week,” said Fulton.
“The athletes we will be sending to South Africa are in need of some competition as they step up their preparations and this competition gives them the perfect opportunity to do so.”
The highly-rated Drew Williams will captain Zimbabwe in South Africa and Fulton is confident the team will bring home some medals.
“Medal hopefuls are Gabby de Chassart in the under-19 girls. Drew Williams, Gideon Benade, Alex Colegrave and Rupert Anschuetz are all very capable under-19 athletes and can produce performances to win medals.
“Tough opposition is expected, however, in this category from South Africa, Mauritius, Egypt and Namibia,” said Fulton.
