The mystery of entering the year

GREETINGS, beloved nation, in the name of Jesus Christ. Welcome to the year 2026, and compliments of the season to you all.

Exodus 12:1-2 says, “The LORD said to Moses and Aaron in Egypt, ‘This month is to be for you the first month, the first month of your year.’” The Israelites had been in Egypt for 430 years and every year they celebrated a new year — just as we did when entering 2025.

For some of us, perhaps we celebrated by shooting crackers, beating drums or even vandalising properties, as we have seen in the past.

There is a culture that many believe — that entering a new year is a reason to celebrate. People make resolutions, looking forward to the year ahead, a practice observed worldwide.

There is nothing wrong with celebrating in style. Some celebrated at home, while others disobediently went out to shoot crackers.

However, today we want to understand the keys to entering the year, because we must recognise that there are spiritual gates — gates for the year, the month and the day.

Many people celebrated entering 2026, but according to God’s calendar, some remain in 1985, others in 2016 and some still in 2020.

If you do not learn to seize the year spiritually, you may never enjoy its blessings. Life is spiritual and whoever masters the spirit realm can benefit physically.

The scripture teaches us that no year is inherently bad, it only becomes bad if people have not heard from God. Despite challenges faced in 2025, God’s Word remains unchanged.

He is the same yesterday, today and forever. God still desires to bless us this year. Remember, you enter the year in the spirit because the spirit is the mother of the physical.

Many celebrate simply because the calendar has changed, but according to heaven’s perspective, a true new year begins when God comes into the scene, fights your spiritual enemies and breaks boundaries.

Indeed, 2026 is a new year, but for it to be truly new in your life, something new must be birthed within you.
The Israelites were in Egypt for 430 years, celebrating what they thought was a new year, yet Heaven was not celebrating with them.

A genuine new year is marked by divine celebration — when Heaven joins in your joy. So, I ask, as we entered 2026, did the heavens rejoice with us or was it only our flesh celebrating? Were the spiritual gates open or closed?

In Exodus 12:1-2, the Lord told Moses and Aaron in Egypt, “This month is to be for you the first month, the first month of your year.”

Egypt here symbolises the world. When God visited Israel, He was drawn by their prayers, and He declared a new beginning for them, transforming their spiritual calendar. Perhaps we could say that they were in June, and God declared it as a new year.

For 430 years, they celebrated a new year in Egypt, but heaven was not aligned with their celebrations. A true new year begins when heaven joins in your celebration.

Let us reflect: when we entered 2026, did heaven celebrate with us or was it just fleshly excitement?
Exodus 12 shows that when God begins to celebrate a new year with His people, their enemies are defeated. The oppressors begging them to leave Egypt — symbolising bondage — are silenced. The Israelites did not leave empty-handed; they carried gold and silver jewelry.

Psalm 65:11 says, “You crown the year with Your goodness.” This indicates that the year is crowned with divine favour. Only those who understand the spiritual principles can access and withdraw this goodness by unlocking the spiritual gates — using the keys of the house of David.

I call upon the nations of the world to turn to the Lord in 2026 so that He will do for us what He did for Israel. It is painful to celebrate a new year while our experiences remain unchanged, with only our age increasing.

But God desires to change our experiences — transforming pain, confusion and discouragement into heavenly celebration.

There is hope in God and victory ahead. We will make it this year. In Numbers 31:49, it is written, “and said to him, ‘Your servants have counted the soldiers under our command, and not one is missing.’” I pray that none of us, our families, friends or servants of God will be missing in Jesus’ name.

May the protection and blood of Jesus cover you all — His blood speaks better things than any challenge you face this year. I declare mercy upon the nations of the world.

I invite you now to receive Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour. Believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that He is Lord, and you shall be saved.
May God bless you all.
