A HARARE woman yesterday asked the court to order her ex-husband to pay US$250 in monthly maintenance for his two minor kids.
However, in response, Peter Chingwaro claimed the other kid was not his and was only carrying his surname.
Trish Nzvengwe told the court that her ex-husband was neglecting his children and demanded US$250 for the upkeep of their five and nine-year-old children.
“I am a cleaner earning US$150 a month and I want him to assist me with the kids.
“He is a car salesman in Newlands earning US$300,” she said.
Peter offered US$60 and said he no longer worked at a car sale, but was now a driver doing school runs.
“I remarried and I earn US$120. I also pay half of the children’s school fees, I don’t know why we are here.
“The other child is not my biological child, but my surname was put on her birth certificate.
“Why should I pay maintenance for her?” .
Magistrate Nyasha Marufu ordered Peter to pay US$100 plus 50 percent school fees every term.
