The reality and deceptive concepts about exercises

Technology has allowed us to analyse, study and prove the working of certain formulars and conditions before people are allowed to use them.  Things which lead to ill health such as food, medicine and exercising needs to be approached with great care.  So when one needs advice on such things, he or she has to make sure the person who is providing that advice is the right one.  In a society we always want to give advice to each other as friends and relatives but we need to know that no one is a custodian of knowledge. No one knows everything.

That is the reason why I have to revisit the topic of myths and misconceptions about exercises. I was shocked when a reader e-mailed me saying he was advised to eat fat foods in order to build up his muscles and shape up his body. Science has always proved that if you eat fat foods you gain fat. And fat gained in your body can not be turned into muscles. Fat and muscle tissues cannot be converted to form one another because they are totally different tissues. The only relationship between the two is that you need muscles to burn the fat and fat is stored in our bodies as an energy reserve although they are good and bad fats from the food we eat.

The two main types of fats being saturated and unsaturated fats.

Saturated fats are fats which are normally solid at room temperature such as animal fat. These fats are not good for you because besides causing fat gain on your body they also raise your blood cholesterol. Limit these types of fats as much as possible.

Unsaturated fats are normally in a liquid state at room temperature and the main sources are plants, e.g. vegetables and nuts.  They are good for your body if consumed in right quantities.  Fat develops in our bodies very unproportionally.  The more fat your body has the more shabby and bigger your body will look. So listen my fellows, the more fatty foods are on your plate, the more problems  you have.

2. Diet alone will keep your health — not really.  Although you can lose weight through dieting,  but how many will stick to it the rest of their life. The answer is very few. A diet without exercises is as much ineffective as exercise without diet. The two work hand in hand.  Also losing too much weight through diet alone can weaken your body and other organs like your heart and this can be catastrophic. On and off diets reduce your borne density and increases the chances of osteoporosis as you age. So the combination of a good diet and exercise is the key to a healthy and fit body.

3. Training with weights slows you down if you are a sportsperson — I will say not at all since most of the top world class sprinters and soccer players train successfully with weights, heavy ones too. More muscles, more strength, speed and power. If you want to fool yourself remain skinny and try to be a professional football player, no club will be interested in you. For athletes you just need to maintain some flexibility in your muscles by stretching them more often.

4. When women weight train they develop big muscles — Do not be deceived.  Women do not have the male hormone testosterone in order to build up big muscles. Those who grow these muscles take steroids. Muscle building has never been easy even for men, after all. If it was easy most men would be showing them off down in the streets. The more resistance you use when training, the more fat your body will burn and the smaller and firmer your body will become. Cardio only remains the biggest set back for most of the ladies.

5. Exercise is bad for your heart — Only the opposite is true.  Your heart like any other muscles, when you work out it will get stronger, healthier ad it will function better.  Also when your body burn fat during exercises you also burn the fat around your heart which allows your heart to pump the blood more efficiently.  Your heart is like your car engine.  When it stops you are no more.  The better your muscular endurance the better your heart will function.  So exercise and save your life.

So do not be misled guys, exercise is the only way to a better tomorrow. Especially in these days of pressure and stresses at work places, living a life without exercising means you are not fully prepared for tomorrow.  Love your body, exercise, enjoy and live longer.
