Afro jazz crooner Alexio Kawara who has been off the limelight after sustaining leg injuries in a car accident in December last year is back in full swing and will tomorrow stage his first show of the year at the Zimbabwe – German Society.
Kawara who last performed on Christmas Eve at the launch of his single “Zva Zvinhu” said he has not yet fully recuperated.
“I was not performing since my last show on the Christmas Eve due to severe injuries I sustained after an accident. As of now, I have not fully recovered but am fit to start live shows. For the past two months I was resting according to instructions from my doctor, but I have been longing to be on stage again,” he said.
The “Shaina” hit-maker said he has been doing rehearsals to deliver a perfect act to his fans on the day. “I have been rehearsing for the past two weeks so that l can present a polished act to my fans that l have missed a lot.
Kawara said he is planning to release another single in April which will later be followed by an album. “I have already started working on a new single which is due for release sometime in April and is off my forthcoming album to be released in August,” he said.
His single “Zva Zvinhu” is receiving heavy rotation on most radio stations. The 35-year-old musician became a household name after the release of his debut album “Usazondisiya” in 2003 which featured hit songs like “Ndinomhanya” and “Kumba Kwenyu”.
His track “Shaina” could be his biggest achievement so far as it took him up the music ladder and also got international acclaim when it was was redone in Chinese.
The musician has worked with different artistes that included the late Andy Brown, Clive Mono Mukundu and Newman Chipeni.
