Slice International was one of the local groups that took the music industry by storm at the peak of urban grooves music. The wave that brought to fore the likes of Roki, Plaxedes Wenyika, David Chifunyise, Diana Samkange’s 2BG, Sanii Makhalima, Ex-Q and Decibel among many other artistes also presented a talented group from Chitungwiza called Slice.
Slice made waves with the song “Ndiwe Wandinoda” that was complemented with a good video.
The group disbanded after members pursued different careers but they have always been in touch and promised the music world another dance with a renewed Slice International.
One man who has worked hard to keep Slice International alive despite the separation of members is Tinos Vhiriri who is known as Slicey T.
Slicey T is now based in Canada but he has kept the local music industry on his radar and done his best to continue working with some of the founders of Slice International.
His mission is to ensure that the band does not die.
And the musician’s dream comes alive on November 28 when Slicey T joins other local musicians at a show at Dandaro Inn.
The show, which is dubbed “Slicey T Welcome Party”, will mark the return of the urban grooves outfit on a local stage after many years.
Jah Prayzah and Nox will grace the event that promises fireworks.
Slicey T said he is happy to return home with such a show and he promised to take people down memory lane and introduce his new songs.
“It will be a great return and we want to do our best at the show.
“I have been away from Zimbabwean showbiz for a long time and I want to assure Slice International music fans that the day will be memorable,” he said.
Nox’s manager Spencer Madziya said they hope to have a good time with Slicey T.
“Slice was a talented group and Slicey T is in a generation that made urban grooves a big genre in Zimbabwe.
“We are happy to welcome him back home and we promise the very best from Nox.
“He is willing to work with his elders in the genre and we hope for the best,” said Madziya.
